Research summary

Kira's research aims to deepen our understanding of urban dynamics by developing cutting-edge machine learning approaches for urban sensor data. Her work is focused along three key research vectors: sensor data mining – designing algorithms that learn about city dynamics from heterogenous sensor data streams; cognitive computing on the edge – developing machine learning methods that can model sensor data directly on the tiny sensor devices; data-driven urban modelling - applying machine learning algorithms such as reinforcement learning to model multi-agent urban systems.

Teaching summary

Kira is a course convenor on Introduction to Programming (CASA0013 - Masters Level).

Kira is a lecturer in geospatial artificial intelligence and machine learning at UCL's Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) and a senior machine learning researcher at Alphamoon. She comes with a PhD in machine learning for modelling urban dynamics from UCL and hands-on machine learning experience from BAE Systems, Microsoft Research and her own start-up. Kira co-founded Polonium Foundation and is a keen explorer of how AI research could benefit policy making and industry.
