Thesis title: Studying the role of emotions in urban behaviour (TBC)

Primary supervisor:  Professor Andrew Hudson-Smith

Secondary supervisor:  Dr Martin Zaltz Austwick
Starting date:  October 2012
Projected completion date:  September 2015

Emotions are a critical component of human cognitive functions, from reasoning to memory and decision making. This research aims to use emerging technologies, such as mobile EEG, to study the role of emotions in urban behaviour and the interactions between the individuals and their environment. This has implications in the study of way finding and spatial decision making mechanisms, but also raises questions about the impact of the environment and architecture on individual and collective experience.
