How do you apply game theory to select who should be on your Christmas shopping list? How should you cut a Christmas pudding so that everyone thinks their piece is the biggest? And how can you use probability theory to write the perfect Christmas song?

CASA lecturer, Dr. Thomas Oléron-Evans, will be addressing these questions and more in a talk at the Royal Institution on 20 December. Suitable for ages 13 and over, this event will surely be the ideal way to kick off your Christmas season. After all, nothing says “festive fun” like an hour and a quarter of maths.

This talk is based on the book “The Indisputable Existence of Santa Claus”, which Thomas co-wrote with fellow CASA academic, Dr. Hannah Fry, in 2016. Copies of the book will be available to buy at the end of the talk.
