CASA Best Paper on Spatial Analysis in memory of Sinesio Alves Junior awarded at GISRUK 2020

2 February 2021

CASA

Congratulations to S.M. Labib, Jonny Huck, and Sarah Lindley for their paper "Greenness visibility using viewshed analysis: A pilot study in Manchester"! They were awarded the annual CASA Prize for the Best Paper on Spatial Analysis, awarded at the GIS Research UK Conference in memory of Sinesio Alves Junior. The paper deals with the construction of a greenness visibility index, facilitating the classification of green spaces from satellite imagery. Their technique removes the need for imagery data from multiple perspectives and decreases the privacy concerns associated with such imagery. Their paper is available here and you can read further information about the Sinesio Alves Junior award here.
