Spotlight On: Martin de Jode

Martin de Jode is a Senior Research Associate, currently working on Internet of Things for Trees and Colouring London. He has previously worked on a number of other Internet of Things related projects such as Tales of Things and the Internet of Second-Hand Things.

How would you summarize your personal research?
I originally trained as a physicist, before moving into IT and consequently have a particular interest in physical computing, which has proved useful in several of the research projects I have been involved with. Additionally, I have worked on a number of software development projects ranging from embedded systems and mobile development through to web development.

What is your favourite thing about CASA?
It’s a friendly place inhabited by world class researchers, that undertakes particularly interesting research.

What has been your experience of living in London?
I like living and working in London, although the beer can be pricey.

What is the most useful thing you’ve learned since you arrived at CASA?
I have learnt many useful things since I’ve been at CASA, for example how to create a ‘chat bot’ or how to set up an SMS Gateway.
