The Bartlett is the UK’s largest multidisciplinary faculty of the built environment, part of one of the world’s top universities, UCL. We are ranked number 1 in the UK, and 2nd in the world, for Architecture/Built Environment subjects (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021)

With architecture and planning alongside disciplines such as energy, sustainability, public purpose and prosperity, our eleven Schools, Institutes and Centres are able to share perspectives in a way unlike any other faculty at any other university. Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis

We are one of the leading forces in the science of cities, drawing on computer based visualisation and modelling. Our programmes draw on some of the world’s leading researchers in urbans studies, transport and computer science. The skills acquired on our courses open doors to job opportunities in fields such as urban planning, city governance, engineering and data sciences; all critical to the effective running of our future cities

Development Planning Unit

The Development Planning Unit conducts world-leading research and postgraduate teaching that helps to build the capacity of national governments, local authorities, NGOs, aid agencies and businesses working towards socially just and sustainable development in the global south.

We encourage our students to challenge orthodox development agendas; explore gender-aware approaches; promote strategic partnerships to manage cities and development; and support individuals, organisations, NGOs and public sectors who share this vision.

The UCL Energy Institute delivers worldleading learning, research and policy support on the challenges of climate change and energy security, contributing to the development of a globally sustainable energy system.

Our students are recognised for their creativity and drive. In the past 20 years, they have received more RIBA medals than any other school. Many have gone on to occupy leading roles in established practices worldwide
