AV at 22 Gordon Street 

Accessing AV equipment

To access equipment you can visit Matthew Bowles in the AV office in room B.11, located in the basement of 22 Gordon Street at the following times. Students may only book and return equipment at the session times listed below and only in person.

• No phone or email bookings/equipment queries are accepted, except to notify of late return or extenuating circumstances.
• Matthew will not book, lend or receive equipment outside of these times.
• He is available outside session times to advise on audio-visual issues
• No risk assessment is required to rent out equipment.
• Relating to students architectural/planning projects; Please come to one of the sessions to arrange a longer in-person discussion.

Deposits

AV equipment is in high demand and is uninsurable under £2000. Deposits are therefore required to ensure the safe return of rented equipment.

• £50 cash deposit is taken for each item up to £100 total
• No cheques, cards, ID cards or passports are accepted in lieu of a cash deposit.
• Please note that for some of the higher-end gear, a student’s record of reliability is taken into account.

Loan Period

Most equipment is loaned out until the following AV session and must be returned no later than 11:00 to allow the item go out to another student during the same session. The duration of a loan of a piece of equipment in high demand, such as a DSLR, is to next AV session but some gear or items that are less popular can be borrowed for longer periods. The borrowing record of a student is also taken in to account when asking for loan extensions.

Photographic Workshops

Workshop sessions are run several times each year by Paul Smoothy, the Bartlett Photographic Technician/Craftsman in Residence. Subjects include studio photography of architectural models and photographing architecture on site. Paul will be announcing this year’s sessions shortly.

Accessing AV equipment

Please note that all bookable Here East AV equipment is available exclusively to students and staff based at Here East.

To access equipment you can visit Michael Wagner in the AV office in room 1.22 at Here East at the times listed below.  Equipment can be collect and or returned outside of these hours to Robert Carman who is based at the UCL Here East Reception desk.

Deposits

There are no deposits being taken at the moment. Please note that this is subject to review. 

Loan Period

Most equipment is loaned for a maximum duration of one week. Please check on bartlett.siso.co what times and durations are available for the equipment you need.

Please note:

• Special booking requests can be made through the AV manager Michael Wagner at the AV office at Here East.
• Returning equipment late may result in the student being blocked from using the Siso loan system.

Spacial allocations

Please note that we have been reviewing student feedback on Unitu regarding the desire for spatial allocation for photography. We are currently working with leadership and considering options. Please keep in mind, that space is currently a significant issue affecting everyone across the Bartlett, impacting timetabling, studio space and B-made facilties. Allocating dedicated space for a photography studio may disrupt or displace other activities or breakout spaces. We will look for the most suitable, least disruptive option. Thank you for your patience while we do our due diligence in tendering an effective solution.
