Many of our partnerships take the form of professional or research collaborations.
The involvement of partners is vital to preparing students for industry. It also enables partners to gain an insight into student work and to meet prospective employees. We work closely with the built environment sector, inviting senior staff from a range of companies to join examination panels and crits, to give lectures and provide mentoring and tutoring.
The School and its partners are increasingly drawing on one another’s expertise for research projects. Recent examples include a pioneering new EU-wide research network, ‘Building Innovation in the Extended Digital Chain’, or InnoChain. The Bartlett School of Architecture is one of six European research institutions and 14 leading architectural practices from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the UK to join forces to examine how advanced digital design tools can positively challenge future building culture, enabling more sustainable, better informed and materially smarter design solutions. InnoChain has recently received a EUR 4 million grant from the EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Programme under Horizon 2020 and includes 15 new doctoral projects within the fields of architecture and engineering.
