Jason Bruges creates robotic light installation for Hull UK City of Culture
7 December 2017
Bartlett alumnus Jason Bruges has designed an interactive installation for the city of Hull entitled 'Where Do We Go From Here?'
Where Do We Go From Here? is a ground-breaking kinetic artwork created by award-winning practice Jason Bruges Studio, as part of Hull UK City of Culture. The installation, which is open every evening until 7 January, uses robotics, light and sound to create a unique immersive experience and enable visitors to rediscover the streets of Hull.
The project’s colossal structures, equipped with robotic arms, reflect both Hull’s Medieval history and current growth in modern industry and technology. Moreover, at a time of political uncertainty, the installation asks important questions of the viewer about where we want to live and – as the project’s title suggests - where we go from here.
