50 Years of Hong Kong Architecture

Three alumni from The Bartlett School School of Architecture, Sarah Lee and Yutaka Yano of Sky Yutaka in collaboration with Alan Lai, have organised London's first ever exhibitionfor the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), 'Tall Storeys – Evolution in Hong Kong Architecture 1965 – 2014', opening at the RIBA on 30 October 2014. 

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the HKIA Annual Awards, Tall Storeys presents 30 works of architectural significance built in Hong Kong over the past 50 years. The exhibition tells the story of how Hong Kong architects have responded to various social and economic challenges, and gained extensive expertise in high-density, high-rise urban developments. 

All selected works are award winning projects of the HKIA Awards, which were inaugurated in 1965 to recognise outstanding architectural achievements of HKIA members.
