Bartlett staff design for London 2012

Five innovative architectural installations designed by staff at the Bartlett School of Architecture have been commissioned by the Mayor of London’s office for the capital’s WONDER series of ‘Incredible Installations’ in preparation for the Olympics 2012 The projects were won after a competition process led by Greater London Authority earlier this year and are currently being erected across the heart of the capital. They will be open to the public between 26 July and 12 September 2012.

Look for a gazebo with locally bred algae in Euston Square Gardens, an urban garden of recyclable cells at Trafalgar Square, a house of flags in Parliament Square, story-telling trees at South Kensington, and a pavilion-scale tea machine at Victoria Park.

These exciting works, produced in collaboration with world leading engineers and fabricators, reflect the Bartlett’s outstanding talent in design research and its commitment to engaging with London.

Some of the installations will be reinstalled in the UCL Quad later on in the summer while the Bartlett School of Architecture organizes an exhibition of all the projects in the autumn.
