Denmark is one of the Scandinavian countries and is also a member of the European Union. She is small - only 43,043 square kilometres - with a population of around 5 million. Denmark consists of the peninsula Jutland (Jylland) and a large number of islands, including Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. The capital, Copenhagen (København), is situated on the island of Zealand (Sjælland).
