The Invest to Progress! 2024 conference by UCL Astrea offered staff inspiring talks, workshops on mentorship and resilience, and networking opportunities to support career growth and professional development.

UCL Astrea hosted a transformative, all-day event designed to support and inspire UCL staff in their personal and professional development. The Invest to Progress! conference took place on 21 June 2024.

The day featured a series of impactful sessions led by inspiring female leaders from within UCL, offering invaluable insights on career growth, resilience, and mentorship. The event was in response to feedback from UCL staff, where many expressed uncertainty in their career paths and a need for guidance in building networks and progressing at UCL.

The event featured plenary sessions with successful women leaders at UCL, including Julie Smith, Fiona Strawbridge, Emma Shirbon, and Kae Ohene-Yeboah, who shared their experiences of navigating their careers to reach leadership roles. Attendees also participated in interactive workshops on mentorship, navigating difficult conversations, and building resilience in the workplace, providing valuable tools for professional growth. Additionally, there were networking opportunities led by Eugene Walker, offering delegates the chance to build meaningful connections with like-minded women and expand their professional networks within the UCL community.
