Best AUA Advocate Jubilee Award

Adam Cresswell started working in UCL in August and is the Knowledge Transfer and Enterprise Coordinator in The Bartlett. Before joining UCL he was a Departmental Administrator at Goldsmiths and their AUA Branch Coordinator. Here are a few words from Adam about his award, his activities with the AUA, and what his membership means to him.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to AUA colleagues who nominated me for the AUA Advocate Award. When I came into Higher Education, the AUA provided a fantastic framework of support, it helped me to very quickly enhance my understanding of HE and provided an opportunity to network and meet with others also working within this 'super-complex' sector. Undertaking the PG Cert helped me in reflecting upon my own strengths and weaknesses and in planning career options, and working on the PG Cert Board of Studies helped me to get experience working in a cross-institutional capacity.

In return, I have tried to give as much back as possible; by building up my former branch at Goldsmiths (which has also won an award), in coordinating events, in promoting the CDP framework, in running sessions at conferences, in supporting the AUA Jubilee celebration at UCL and generally speaking highly of the association whenever I can.

Being singled-out for my work as an advocate is fantastic, but working in HE is very much a team endeavour and I want to thank all the brilliant people I have worked with on AUA activities. Being an advocate doesn't stop with the award, so please anyone who is interested in joining the AUA or wants tips on putting on an event, or is thinking of doing the PG Cert, please get in touch."
