If you are offering all science/maths subjects at A Level or equivalent, you will be required to take an arts/humanities/social science test as part of the assessment of your application. The online test will last for 90 minutes and you will be required to answer one compulsory question plus one more from a choice of three from your proposed minor pathway - Cultures or Societies. Each question is designed to take around 45 minutes to answer.
The markers will be looking for examples of flair, linguistic accuracy and style, the ability to make interesting and relevant connections and links, and the ability to contextualise knowledge where appropriate, so there is nothing specific that you will need to revise before taking the test. However, you may find it useful to familiarise yourself with the themes covered in the discontinued AQA A Level General Studies syllabus as we will be setting questions on similar themes.
Exact details of the test will be sent out to applicants after receipt of their application and questionnaire and we hold an arts test in February and March each year.
Once you have taken the test, we will use your responses to the test questions, your response to the questionnaire, your academic performance to date and your predicted grades to make a final decision on your application.
