Dr Cathy Elliott

Cathy is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Political Science and teaches on the politics of nature. Her work is highly interdisciplinary and she is currently working on the politics of the British "new nature writing". She argues that this genre of writing promotes a politics that is useful in resisting the narratives that drive planetary destruction.

She is also currently Vice Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences. She has an interest in the politics of pedagogy and writes and thinks a lot about teaching and learning. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

PhD Supervision

She would be interested in supervising research students interested in the interdisciplinary projects on the politics of nature, the more-than-human world or narrative non-fiction about nature and climate. She may also be able to supervise students interested in interdisciplinary projects relating to pedagogy particularly if the project also relates to nature and/or politics.
