Handbook for BA degrees in two East European languages.
Two East European languages
This structure covers those degrees for students taking a Two SSEES languages (excluding Russian) (e.g. Czech and Polish)
- You must register for exactly 120 credits per year of study;
- You must have taken and passed 90 credits of Level 6 modules by the end of the final year;
- You are not permitted to take more than 150 credits of Level 4 modules over the course of your programme;
- The Year Abroad must be passed

Your third year is split between countries where your two language choices are spoken. You will normally spend this year studying at a university. Further details are contained in the Year Abroad Handbook.
Students should select SEES0138 and SEES0139 on Portico.
By the end of Year 4 you need to have taken a minimum of 90 credits in Level 6 modules over Year 2 and 4 together.
For each language, students who started their language-learning at UCL at Language Level 1, and did Level 2 in the second year must take Level 3 in the final year.
If one language was started at Language Level 2, and Level 3 was taken in the second year, students must take the Freestanding Dissertation.
If both languages were started at Language Level 2, and Level 3 was taken in the second year, students must take the Freestanding Dissertation and two Interdepartmental modules.

- if Level 3 has not yet been taken in either language, choose Level 3a/3b for each language
- if Level 3 has not yet been taken for one language, but has for the other, choose Level 3a/3b for the first language, and a Freestanding Dissertation
- if Level 3 has already been taken for both languages, choose a Freestanding Dissertation and two SEEE modules
