Richard Murphy Memorial Prize

Richard Murphy was a gifted student on the BA Philosophy degree, who tragically contracted and died of meningitis in his first year of study.

In 2002 the Department established an annual prize for the student with the best performance in their final year. The prize was made possible with generous help from Richard's parents, Paul and Cathy Murphy, and former colleagues of Mrs Murphy.

Winners

	2018 2018/19 final year winner Benedict Jooste-Jennings being presented the Richard Murphy Prize certificate by Head of Department Professor Daniel Rothschild in the seminar room.
	2017 2017/18 final year winner Lizzy Holt at her graduation ceremony. Lizzy is being presented the Richard Murphy Prize certificate by Department Tutor Dr Luke Fenton-Glynn and is joined by Dr Amanda Greene.
	2016 2016/17 finalist winner Hseng Xiong Goh was presented the certificate on graduation day in early September 2017. The sun was shining in Gordon Square when Professor José Zalabardo (Head of Department) presented the prize.

	2014 Winner (2014/15 final year) Xintong Wei presented the Richard Murphy Prize by Head of Department  Professor José Zalabardo.
	2013 Winner (2013/14 final year) Rowan Mellor presented the Richard Murphy Prize by Professor José Zalabardo.
