Eligibility
The workshops are for MA and PhD students at UCL studying any subject. You do not need to be in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
The Department of Greek and Latin are running the ‘Dreaming of Pompeii: Bringing the Archive out into our Modern World’ postgraduate student workshops in May 2026.
If you are an MA or PhD student at UCL, join us for one of two informal workshops on 1 or 7 May to explore the role of silent films and the materials they drew on in storytelling about the ancient city of Pompeii. You will also consider how you could rework those archival materials in personal ways through your own creative project.
The best reworkings will be displayed in an exhibition at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture in November 2026 as part of the UCL 200 programme of events to mark the university’s bicentenary.
A small number of bursaries will be made available on a competitive basis where needed to complete your project.
Find out more about the workshops and how to apply. The deadline to apply is 27 March 2026.
The workshops are being organised by members of the AHRC-funded project, Museum of Dream Worlds: Silent Antiquity Films in the BFI National Archive.
