Professor Ishiguro taught in our department 1964–1982, and we hosted a conference in her honour in 2007. She studied at Tokyo University, Oxford, and the Sorbonne, and she was emerita at Kyoto. She worked on the philosophy of Leibniz and Wittgenstein, the philosophy of language, philosophical logic, and the philosophy of psychology.
Professor Budd was our emeritus Grote Professor of Philosophy of Mind and Logic, having taught in our department 1970–2001. He was a Fellow of the British Academy and spent several years as Editor of the Aristotelian Society. He specialized in aesthetics, the philosophy of perception, moral philosophy, Kant, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein.
