GENERAL INFORMATION
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

You will find a lot of useful information available on the UCL International Students pages, including details of the UCL International Students' Orientation programme, immigration and visa information, advice on preparing for life in the UK, travel information etc.

Immigration and visas

If you are coming to study in the UK for more than 6 months then you will require a Student visa. The Immigration & Visas web page has further details, including how to obtain your CAS number. Please note that UCL cannot issue a Certificate of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) form unless you hold an Unconditional offer, so please make sure that you meet any Conditions attached to your offer as early as you possibly can.

PRE-ENROLMENT AND ENROLMENT

Completing pre-enrolment is the first step toward becoming a fully enrolled UCL student. It is a quick and easy online task where you confirm the details we hold about you and your course. When pre-enrolment is available for your course, you’ll receive a pre-enrolment invitation email with instructions. This email can only be sent once you've accepted your offer, met any conditions and completed any statutory checks if applicable.

Once you have completed the pre-enrolment, you will receive a confirmation email. It will advise you that your documents will be checked as soon as possible and, if everything is correct, you will be then be enrolled at UCL. 

NB: If you were unable to upload your visa, ID document or photo during pre-enrolment, you can upload them once you have them via Portico.

Once you have received an email confirming you have been enrolled at UCL you will be able to book to collect your ID card (if you are quarantining later booking dates will be released for you to collect your card, you cannot book an ID collection shot whilst you are quarantining). Once you have collected your student ID card, you will have full access to buildings across UCL, and from your course start date will also have full access to UCL's libraries, library collections and electronic resources.

Optional module registration

Students who have pre-enrolled are able to select their preferred optional modules. Details are available on the Module Registration information page. You will be able to access the Portico system after pre-enrolling. You can find information on all the taught modules across UCL on the online module catalogue.

UCL INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMME

UCL has developed an new online Introductory programme for new students, to help you get to know UCL - its values, its community and its achievements - before you arrive. Further information can be found on the Introductory Programme section of the New Students website.

TIMETABLES

Course specific timetables will be e-mailed to students in (or shortly before) induction week.

Online timetables

Students can see their own personal timetables on the UCL online teaching timetable, once they have completed module registration.

ATTENDANCE

Students on full-time Taught Masters study for a full calendar year. Therefore, students are expected to study beyond the end of the third term to prepare their dissertation in time for submission in September.
