About this event
The BA Creative Arts and Humanities (BACAH) degree launched in 2023 at UCL East.
After three years of making, critiquing, and sweating, the first cohort of BACAH students are sharing their final year projects at their Degree Show.
The Degree Show will take place at UCL East and the Bloomsbury Studio at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
This event at the Bloomsbury Studio will feature the following live theatre performances:
- What Hands Cannot Hold by Kay Lynn Er
- Into the Woods by Aruanna Sapayeva
- Arcadia by Beatrice Gordon Clark
We are proud to share the BACAH’s first final year projects and hope you can join us at the Bloomsbury Theatre!
This performance coincides with the Degree Show at UCL East. Learn more about the BACAH Degree Show at UCL East.
This event is part of the UCL200 programme of events celebrating UCL’s bicentenary.

As a future vision of Arts and Humanities education, the BACAH was conceived in 2019 by Tim Beasley-Murray and Gregory Thompson for the UCL Arts and Sciences department. With Matthew Sperling, they wrote a course which entwines creative and critical practice in writing, moving image and performance, foregrounding collaboration among students and reflexive engagement with the world beyond university.
This first cohort of brave souls took a chance on a new degree which offered them intellectual challenge, creative arts, technical ability, social awareness, and the means to make something happen.
They are an experimental, talented, and hugely varied group of students who have contributed enormously to the degree’s development alongside their own education.
Supervisors: Kirstin Smith, Rebecca Birch, Dai George, Temenuga Trifonova, Antoine Bourges, Ben White, Matthew Sperling, Tim Beasley-Murray, and Alexandra Baybutt.
With the help of Matthew Gunton, Natalie Cassius, and Cristy Meadows.
