The first CeKOR event will be a colloquium on Friday 12th June, entitled “The interdisciplinarity of knowledge organisation: laying the foundations for a KO research network”. This (free) research colloquium seeks to bring together scholars from different disciplines, to share and discuss how we think about the classification, categorisation and organisation of knowledge. The event features a keynote talk by Prof. Rick Szostak, University of Alberta, with a response by Prof. Douglas Tudhope, University of South Wales. Knowledge organisation will be explored from three perspectives – historical, conceptual and technological – through three sessions, with talks by UCL scholars from a range of disciplines including English, History, Early Modern Studies, Library and Information Studies, Data Science, Digital Humanities, and Computer Science. The day ends with a focus on discussion and on building the foundations for a UCL network of knowledge organisation research.
This colloquium is very generously supported by the Dean’s Strategic Fund (A&H) and the UCL Department of Information Studies.
