About the Centre for Translation Studies
The Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) is an interdisciplinary research centre that is home to postgraduate degrees in Translation and Technology (MSc) and Translation Studies (MA/Mphil/PhD), as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses.
All staff are active researchers or professional translators and interpreters; our innovative courses reflect the latest developments in the exciting and fast-changing field of translating and interpreting.
Translation Studies MA / MSc
We offer taught programmes with specialised pathways at MA or MSc level.
Translation Studies MPhil / PhD
Our PhD students work closely with CenTraS researchers
Research
CenTraS researchers focus on human-centred translation and interpreting and their socio-cultural and commercial impacts, with studies on AI, audiovisual, medical, literary, and crisis translation.

Our curriculum includes a practice of Wordfast translation tools, courtesy of Wordfast LLC and Yves Champollion.
We would like to thank Phrase for granting CenTraS at UCL, access to the Phrase Localization Platform. The Academic Plan is a dedicated academic program designed to enhance translation and localization education and support universities in training the next generation of language professionals.
