The Centre fosters interdisciplinary, intercultural and international approaches to arts and humanities disciplines at a graduate level. It draws on expertise at UCL from diverse fields, including literature, art, film, history, politics, geography, archaeology, education, politics and philosophy, encouraging innovative approaches to the subject areas. Academics at CMII share a strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to their subjects and to understanding culture, history and society through an intercultural lens.

By promoting intercultural and international approaches to arts, humanities and scientific disciplines, and by moving beyond national and media boundaries in order to understand broad areas of learning, the CMII contributes to rethinking and revitalising the disciplines with which it works.
