Back to the Future: Summer 2021
Welcome to a new and completely free programme of masterclasses, short courses and workshops for students throughout May and June 2021.
Our events have been developed primarily for students across the Faculties of Arts & Humanities, Social & Historical Sciences, and the School of Slavonic & East European Studies. Students outside these faculties are also warmly invited to attend many of our panel events and masterclasses.
Take a look and register for the sessions that interest and inspire you, and join us as we get back to the future.
This is a strange moment - after more than a year of strange moments. The pandemic has pressed pause on our lives. It has kept us apart from each other, interrupted us in what we were doing, held us in a state of suspended animation. It has put our futures on hold. Now, the pandemic may be coming to an end – at least in the UK. It is subsiding and we are beginning again: beginning to emerge from where we have been weathering its storm.
We have learned things – about inequalities and privilege, about solitariness and community, about suffering and joy. And we know that the world we are returning to will not be the same as before.
For students, it’s been a year of challenge like no other. Some of you are coming to the end of an academic year without having stepped foot on campus, and some of you are now completing your degrees and leaving UCL altogether. Whatever stage of your studies you’re at, and wherever you are in the world, we are committed to supporting you, both now and into the future.
