Applying for PhD scholarships to study with us
There are several different PhD scholarships available at UCL, including our own UASc Interdisciplinary Excellence PhD Scholarship. The exact deadlines and process can change year to year, but many scholarships require you to approach your host department as part of the application process. This should be done as early as possible to avoid missing deadlines.
In 2026, for the UCL Research Excellence Scholarship (which includes CSC-UCL Joint Scholarship applications for ‘other’ subject area awards), UCL Research Excellence Scholarship for Cross-disciplinary Training (One-Year) and UCL Research Opportunity Scholarship - we ask that you submit your application to us by 7th January 2026. You should include any relevant scholarship cover or information sheet, your CV, your proposal, academic transcripts, and references. Please follow the advice on the individual scholarship pages for what to send. You should send applications to uasc-pg-admissions@ucl.ac.uk .
In 2026, for the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards, we ask that you submit your application to us by 7th January 2026. You should include any relevant scholarship cover sheet, information sheet, or application form, a monitoring form, your CV, your proposal, academic transcripts, and references. Please follow the advise on the individual scholarship pages for what to send. You should send applications to uasc-pg-admissions@ucl.ac.uk .

Other funding bodies (perhaps in your home country) will have different application processes and we do not manage these applications in-house. If you need a reference or supporting letter from the Arts and Sciences department in order to apply for your external funding, please get in touch with us so that we can help.
