PhD Admissions

All applications for the Interdisciplinary Societies, Arts and Sciences PhD degree must be made via the UCL application portal.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of an upper-second class (2:1) UK Bachelor's degree in an appropriate subject, or a recognised taught Master's degree.

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency. The English language level for this degree is Level 2.

Your application

As part of your application, you are required to provide a 1,000 word project outline, which must include a summary of your research area, an indication of supervisors and what each supervisors' relevant expertise is, your proposed methods and an indicative bibliography.

Applications will first be reviewed by the Graduate Research Tutor who will refer where necessary to UASc academics in the relevant subject area or research group and / or to UASc academics named in the proposal. Either your first or second supervisor must be a member of UASc staff. Successful applications will be passed to supervisors for review. Only on the agreement of supervisors and Graduate Research Tutor will an offer of an interview be made. Successful applications will be invited to an interview with the Departmental Tutor and / or potential supervisors. Interviews can be conducted remotely. An offer will only be issued following interview and recommendation from the interview.
