The adoption of AI in the judicial system - across various sectors of law more broadly - has the potential to both revolutionise the practice of law and, rework our notions of due process and justice. In this webinar we welcome Dr Pamela Ugwudike (University of Southampton, Alan Turing Institute) and Charles Kerrigan (CMS partner and global head of Fintech) to present their perspectives from academia and industry.

Speaker bios:
Dr Pamela Ugwudike
Associate Professor of Criminology (University of Southampton), Fellow (Alan Turing Institute)
Dr Pamela Ugwudike is Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Southampton and a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute. She is leading multidisciplinary research projects that are exploring AI ethics and governance, with a focus on the data-driven algorithms that inform decision making in justice systems. Dr Ugwudike sits on a number of advisory boards including the advisory group for Ada Lovelace Institute's legal review of the governance of biometric data in the UK.
Charles Kerrigan
Partner and global head of Fintech @CMC
Charles Kerrigan is CMS partner and global head of Fintech. He specialises in finance and technology, corporate finance and venture fundraising. He leads CMS interest in blockchain and digital assets.
Adriano Koshiyama @UCL Computer Science
Dr Adriano Koshiyama is a Research Fellow at Computer Science at University College London. His interests include: Machine Learning, Finance, and Algorithmic Assessment. He is a specialist in designing trustworthy autonomous systems.

The ALGO Conference
In addition to the monthly webinars, a flagship, biannual conference is held.
The ALGO 2020
The autumn 2020 conference was on the theme of Research, Innovation and Governance. There were over 1000 delegates and 50+ speakers, with sessions from the likes of Cisco, The Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, Climate Change AI, and many more.
