Support and Wellbeing at UCL History of Art

We work together to support our students and staff. Below we have signposted some advice and support streams available to you at UCL and beyond.

Student Support at UCL

  • The Student Support and Wellbeing team of expert wellbeing, disability and mental health advisers provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, in which you can discuss any issues that may be affecting

    your ability to study. You can find contact details and services UCL offers on their website, including therapeutic support and counselling, where you can register with student psychological services, wellbeing and mental health, and crisis support, or access free self-help resources.
  • UCL and Positive have worked together to offer an app to support student wellbeing, helping look after your mental health and set yourself on the path to success. The new app programme is called Positive PIE (Psychologically Informed Environments) and is designed to equip you with tools and techniques that can support you at university and in the future.
  • The UCLU website contains information about student life and campaigns at UCL, their student sabbatical officers and general and specialised events. There is also a very useful guide for UCL staff to support student's mental health and well-being.
  • The Rights and Advice Service can be contacted at uclu-right.advice@ucl.ac.uk.
  • UCL have a dedicated area for international student support where you can find information on healthcare, banking, transport and safety. 

Staff Support at UCL

  • Being Well at UCL contains staff resources for wellbeing, including resources and tools to help you learn skills for a healthy mind, body and work life.
  • The Employee Assistance Programme is a staff support service providing 24/7, confidential mental health support on a variety of platforms, covering both personal and work-related matters.
  • If you feel able there are also ways in which you can contribute to wellbeing support at UCL, including becoming a Wellbeing Champion in your department.

External Support and Resources 

  • Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout Great Britain and Ireland, often through their telephone helpline.
  • NHS Mental Health Helpline for urgent 24/7 support.
  • Mind offer information and support when you are living with a mental health problem or supporting someone with one.
  • In an emergeny, dial 999.
