We are delighted to welcome applications for the Arnold Hayward Stevenson Scholarship for home MA students to begin their study in the academic year 2021-22. We welcome applications for from home students who have been accepted for study on the History of Art Masters programme at UCL, and who express an interest in developing a course of study in pre-1800 painting and/or decorative arts. The Scholarship, of £10,000, must be used for payment of tuition fees.

The Scholarship has been created through a gift from The Painters’ Company Charities, which fulfils the objectives of The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers in support of the education of fine and decorative artists.

In order to apply for the Scholarship home students should already have been offered a place on the MA in History of Art at UCL according to the normal application procedure.

“This generous gift from The Painters’ Company Charities presents UCL History of Art with an exciting opportunity to nurture talent in pre-1800 painting and/or decorative. The scholarship will have a transformative effect on the recipients and on our discipline.” Professor Robert Mills, Head of Department.

Philanthropy lies at the heart of the UCL Campaign, with support enabling the best and brightest minds to pursue academic excellence at every level. Scholarships and bursaries are essential in aiding gifted individuals to achieve success throughout the course of their studies and beyond.
