Eva Hesse in Europe

Eva Hesse in Europe

2-6pm Saturday 2 February 2013

Speakers include: Anne Wagner, Sarah James, Jo Applin, Ed Krcma, Stephanie Straine and Briony Fer.

This symposium focuses on Eva Hesse's reliefs and drawings made during the year she spent in Germany in 1965. It looks in depth at the role of drawing in Hesse's work and at the pivotal position of her coloured reliefs for her later sculpture. But it also discusses more broadly the shifts in art in Europe at that moment and Hesse's own relationship to European models of experimental art practice.

The event has been kindly sponsored by Hauser and Wirth. The exhibition Eva Hesse 1965 is on view at Hauser & Wirth, 23 Savile Row, London W1S 2ET.
