Art and Archaeology of Ancient China

This module covers the art and archaeology of ancient China from prehistory to the Bronze Age (c. 6000 - 300 BCE).

The module will explore Chinese art and archaeology in great depth and provide the methodological foundation for further archaeological research. It provides the student with the basic knowledge of the archaeological material from the period covered, and an understanding of the major issues in Chinese archaeology, such as early agriculture, rural jade, pottery and bronze production, formation of state and empire, and the practice of archaeology in modern China.
