Archaeological Law and Project Management

This course aims to look at the legal framework for managing archaeological sites and the practice of field archaeology in Britain, and at the management of archaeology and archaeological projects. Topics covered will include the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979; Planning Law, Development Control and PPG16; Environmental Impact Assessments; Health & Safety law and Risk Assessment; the role of guidance, ethics and standards; the role of international charters, conventions and standards; the management of archaeology in Britain; archaeological project management and project design.
