The UCL Institute of Archaeology offers a four-year degree, entitled BA Archaeology with a Placement Year.

The BA Archaeology with a Placement Year degree entails Years 1, 2 and 4 spent at UCL, taking courses and producing a dissertation in Year 4, similar to existing three-year BA programmes at UCL.
During year three up to eight students, who have demonstrated an aptitude and commitment in years one and two, will work as a part of a professional team at Archaeology South-East (ASE) to excavate, survey, study, manage and conserve historic sites and finds. Working alongside our expert staff, in a stimulating and innovative environment, you will be at the forefront of new archaeological discovery, engaging with the public to promote an understanding of the historic environment.
