Investigating the cultural and landscape history of the Peshdar Plain, Iraqi Kurdistan.
This research project funded by colleagues at Munich University (LMU), is involved with the investigation of the cultural and landscape history of the Peshdar Plain in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The project brings together a wide range of international experts in history, archaeology, archaeobotany, archaeozoology, geoarchaeology, archaeometry, geophysics, photogrammetry & 3D modelling, microfossil analysis, GIS and cuneiform studies.
The work includes studying the past climate, geoarchaeological work, and material culture as well as landscape survey. The project has been ongoing since 2015 and has produced nearly annual volumes summarising field seasons and several article publications.
