  • Research Administrator (Pre-Award) - Overall responsibility for the Institute's pre-award research administration (grant application costing and submission, dissemination of research-related information and statistics, management of academic staff workloads and research-related databases, management of internal grant competitions and review panel meetings and interviews, RAE/REF).  Member/Secretary to Research Committee and its Standing Committee (contribution to strategic research-related planning, organisation of staff research reviews, research seminars, elections etc.)

  • Receives and processes undergraduate applications. Fields all undergraduate admissions queries. Organises undergraduate open days, and post offer 'keeping warm' events. Updates and maintains a database record of all applications for annual comparisons
  • Organises the UCL Taster Days (with the UCL Widening Participation officer), UCL Summer Challenge and a summer taster excavation (in conjunction with Gabriel Moshenska and the Museum of London). Works on the Festival of World Archaeology (in conjunction with Collections Manager and the Executive Assistant to the Director). Organises the departmental activities for the UCL and ULU open days. Liaises with the Alumni Department in organising events for IoA alumni
  • First point of contact for current students regarding the status of their fieldwork course requirement, updating and maintaining fieldwork database, processing student fieldwork grant applications and compiling and distributing the fieldwork bulletin. First Aider in the department and on the annual Experimental Archaeology trip (with Bill Sillar)
  • Updates and helps to maintain the Undergraduate, fieldwork and careers sections of the IoA website. Public Engagement Champion and runs the IoA social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and LinkedIn (for Museum Studies). Visits schools and colleges throughout the year as part of IoA Outreach and recruitment; helps host Work Experience Students (with the Collections Manager)
  • Careers Tutor: co-ordinates Careers Advice sessions and organises Career Days. Organises and administers the MA Museum Studies Museum Placements (with course tutor)

  • oversees appointment of Honorary Associates and Affiliate Academics/short-term visitors and provision of service, with day-to-day administration delegated to Administrative Officer (HR/Events) and HR Administrator
  • provides managers with support and guidance on all aspects of line management (probation, sickness absence, parental leave, etc.) responsible for coordination of HR casework relating to managing under-performance, grievance, disciplinary and sickness absence reviews
  • oversees OH referrals, including preparation of documentation and implementation of reasonable adjustments
  • provides advice, guidance and support on issues relating to staff welfare
