IoA involvement:

Marilena is a cultural heritage researcher specialising in intangible heritage, critical museology and participatory, community-based methodologies. Her work spans academic research, heritage policy and grassroot actions, focusing on the implementation of the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in museums, heritage organisations and civil society. Marilena holds a PhD in heritage and museum studies from UCL and has worked as researcher and advisor on intangible heritage, including digital intangible heritage, with a broad range of museums, heritage and community organisations in Europe, Southeast Asia, USA, Pacific and the Middle East.
