The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for an Institute Manager (Ref.: B03-02398). The deadline for applications is 5 June 2025.

An Institute Manager is sought for the UCL Institute of Archaeology. The Institute Manager commands a broad remit of diverse and challenging responsibilities including providing operational leadership within the Institute, strategic development and planning, operational management, staffing management, finance and resource management and research operations. The Institute Manager will be expected to implement change and support continuous improvement across the Institute and Faculty.
The Institute Manager will be required to develop and deliver operational services in an efficient, responsive, and professional manner. Effective implementation of statutory regulations, UCL and departmental policies and procedures is central to the role as is the provision of high-level financial management for the Department.
The Institute Manager will also be required to proactively support the Head of Department/ Director in implementing strategy, the day-to-day operations of the Department, and providing management information.
Finally, the successful postholder will lead the professional services team and play a key role in providing wider strategic and operational support to the equality, diversity, and inclusion activities within the department.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or a relevant qualification in HE management or have acquired substantial relevant experience.
You must have experience of successfully motivating and developing a team and have experience in resource allocation (personnel, financial or otherwise). You must also have experience providing effective operational delivery and working in a fast-paced environment and handling diverse workloads, multi-tasking with confidence and with a high level of accuracy. You must also have proven success in developing and implementing service improvements and change initiatives, using excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships and to work as a team.
