The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for an interim Laboratory Manager (Ref.: B03-02504). The deadline for applications is 1 July 2025.

The UCL Institute of Archaeology seeks a full-time interim (1.0FTE; 36.5 hours per week) Laboratory Manager. The post is funded until September 2026 in the first instance.
The Laboratory Manager will play a key role in achieving the teaching and research strategy of the Institute, including facilitating academic research and innovation, achieving sustainability targets and developing a positive technical staffing culture.
Key responsibilities include overseeing technical support, facilities, health and safety, chemical stores, and equipment maintenance. The role also involves ensuring compliance with safety protocols, managing budgets, contributing to timetabling, and fostering a collaborative technical culture.
The postholder will work closely with academic staff, students, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and safe lab operations.
The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level in the biological, physical or material sciences or equivalent professional experience. The appointee will line manage a team of technicians and will be responsible for the safety of staff, students and visitors within the laboratory areas in the Institute.
