Job Vacancy: Lecturer (Teaching) in Bioarchaeology and Forensic Anthropology

The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for an Lecturer (Teaching) in Bioarchaeology and Forensic Anthropology (Ref.: B03-02432). The deadline for applications is 30 April 2025.

A Lecturer (Teaching) in Bioarchaeology and Forensic Anthropology is sought to teach core and optional modules on the MSc in Bioarchaeological and Forensic Anthropology.
This is a full-time post at 36.5 hours per week including all course preparation, teaching, support, marking, and other duties.
The post is funded from 15 September 2025 - 14 September 2026, providing cover for Katie Hemer for the period when she will be on research leave as a British Academy Mid-Career Fellow. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Bioarchaeology, Palaeopathology, Biological Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, or Dental Anthropology. Candidates must have exceptional knowledge of, and the capacity to teach classes in human skeletal anatomy, palaeopathology, and dental anthropology, whilst a deep understanding of the ethics surrounding the teaching and research of human remains is essential.
Further specialisation in one or more of the following areas would be desirable: proteomics; histology; aDNA/DNA; or stable isotope analysis. The post-holder will also ideally have field experience.
