Applications are sought for a Research Fellow to join the AHRC-funded project Empowering Heritage. The post-holder will work closely with the project PI, Rachel King and Co-I, Peter Mitchell (University of Oxford) to extract necessary data about heritage salvage projects from SAHRIS, populate the project database, and analyse data according to Empowering Heritage's objectives.

Specifically, this includes: working with the project team to define fields, terminology, and architecture of the database; developing and maintaining data hygiene and quality control protocols; mapping the locations and extent of heritage salvage projects, and quantifying spatial densities of heritage salvage projects.

There will be scope for the Research fellow to develop their own research interests and analytical uses of the database generated, and lead on publications, in line with the overall project objectives.

The successful candidate will have obtained, or be close to obtaining (within 6 months of submission), a PhD in archaeology/archaeological GIS/computational archaeology, and have an excellent knowledge of GIS and database design using open access software such as PostgreSQL and/or other open source databases and open source software including PostGIS, QGIS, and GRASS.
