Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship competition 2019-20

Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships aim to provide career development opportunities for those who are at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, but who have a proven record of research.

Support for Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships at UCL involves a two-stage internal competition, firstly at departmental and then at Faculty level.

• The Institute of Archaeology internal deadline for applications will be 5pm on Thursday 5 December 2019

As this year's application materials will not be made available by the Leverhulme Trust until January 2020, below is a summary of the information required for the 5 December deadline.

• Project Title: 80 characters (max), including spaces
• General Applicant details: Name/DOB/Contact details etc.
• Career details: Relevant current/previous employment (if any)
• Educational details:  Degrees/qualifications including Doctoral degree (whether the PhD has been obtained or not must be stated in the application/CV. The level of pass for undergraduate and masters degrees must also be stated - according to the grading scheme of the awarding institution (i.e. not converted into a UK equivalent))
• Main field of study: 80 characters (max), including spaces
• Abstract: 100 words (max)
• Details of current and past research: 250 words (max)
• Detailed statement of proposed research: 2 sides of A4 (max), this limit includes bibliographic references (Applicants should frame their research proposals in a way which will be intelligible to non-specialist assessors. Where appropriate, applicants should use bold or bullet-points to emphasise key aims)
• List of publications: 1 side of A4 (max)
• Research relevant to your proposal being carried out in the host department: 100 words (max)
• Additional reasons for selecting your chosen host department and institution: 100 words (max)
• Research Budget: Candidates should indicate at this stage how they might use the annual research allocation of £6k provided with this Fellowship.

For the draft applications a CV is required and this should be 2 sides A4 (max). References are not required for draft applications.
Completed draft applications should be submitted by email to Jo Dullaghan, Institute of Archaeology Research Administrator (j.dullaghan@ucl.ac.uk) by the above deadline.

Please note: Applicants are required to have secured the agreement of a member of Institute of Archaeology staff to act as their supervisor/mentor for this application. Those staff are asked to provide a short statement for any application they wish to support (by the deadline) which will also be considered by the Institute of Archaeology review panel.

Applications received by the deadline will be considered by the Institute of Archaeology review panel and selected applicants will then be put forward for consideration by the Faculty panel.
