Mike was interviewed to mark the centenary of public ownership of the historic monument. The monument had fallen into disrepair and once it was donated to the nation conservation work started as well as a major survey and programme of excavation. The stone circle and surrounding historic landscape have been a World Heritage Site since 1986.

Mike has been involved in collaborative research on Stonehenge for many years and is currently leading a project which is exploring the origin of the stones used to build Stonehenge.
