Launch of the latest issue of Archaeology International (2018)

The latest issue of Archaeology International, showcasing the diverse research, teaching and public engagement activities at the UCL Institute of Archaeology is now available.

Archaeology International Issue 21 (2018), edited this year by Alice Stevenson, Jennifer French and Barney Harris, highlights the Institute's research presence across the globe and contains a number of articles by Institute staff including:

  • The Petrie Museum's Collection of Funerary Wooden Models: Investigating Chronology and Provenance by Gersande Eschenbrenner-Diemer
  • The Archaeology of Neolithic Cooking Traditions: Archaeobotanical Approaches to Baking, Boiling and Fermenting by Dorian Fuller and Lara Gonzalez Carretero

Archaeology International also includes shorter research updates and in this issue topics vary from Eroding Heritage: An Island Context; The AHRC Heritage Priority Research Area; and Changing Lifeways in the Maloti-Drakensberg Mountains, Southern Africa to Neanderthal Subsistence in Portugal as well as The Romano-British to Early Medieval Weald.

In addition to the usual Editorial and the Institute's Director's Report, information on Studying at the UCL Institute of Archaeology: Past and Present is provided. The annual bookshelf of recent publications, a section on recent news and obituaries are also included as well as A Global Perspective on the Past: The Institute of Archaeology Around the World.

In this issue a viewpoint on the Archaeology of Strikes and Revolution is also presented.

Archaeology International is published by Ubiquity Press and is normally available online as well as in print and is fully open access. 

The launch of the latest issue was marked by a special reception at the Institute of Archaeology yesterday.
