Discovery:first mentioned, 1858 Blight, J.T.
History:Okasha/1993, 322: `The stone was first noted in 1858 by Blight. It was then at Welltown and had `been used as a gate-post'. In 1867 Polsue stated...`it is now enclosed with strong iron railings...in 1951 Pevsner recorded the stone still at Welltown, but in his revised edition of 1970 the stone was described in its present position'.

Okasha/1993, 322: `The stone is now at a crossroads about 0.3km. northwest of Welltown. It is set on a grass bank at the side of the road beside the Tawna stone'.

Palaeography:Macalister/1945, 438: `the penultimate letter of the first name might be an N; the upright stem is hardly tall enough for H. But the N in the following line is of a different form and N does not give us a better reading'.
