History: | Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 250: `In 1909 this stone was built into the `north-west corner of the church' which had been `formed into a kind of station' ... In the early 1930s it was photographed lying loose as part of a `crude pilgrim's "station"' which had been built at the west end of the church some time before ... Comparison between the photograph of the stone and its present shape suggests that the edges of the stone were trimmed or broken before it was built into the east wall. This was between September and December 1944 when the east wall of the church was rebuilt. The stone has remained there since'. |
