History:Davies et al/2000, states that the stone was first noted by Flagelle in 1877, but the inscriptions was not recognised until seen by Le Carguet and published in 1889, by which time it had moved from standing at the site of the chapel of St. Guenole to being built into a wall. It was not until november 1987 that the stone was re-studied with the wall being dismantled and the stone being closely examined. The wall was rebuilt with the stone still in it and this is where the stone now remains.

Below this is a rectangular carouche, c.500mm deep and tapering in width from 540mm to 420mm, in line with the shape of the pillar. The interior of the cartouche is divided into four unequal columns, separated by vertical grooves less substantial than the groove surrounding the cartouche. Each column consists of a stack of interlocking chevrons pointing up. The toal number of chevrons per column can be estimated at about 16. Hanging below the cartouche are two, almost semi-circular, surves, the one on the left the larger of the two.
