Palaeography:CISP: The first line of the inscription is in Insular half-uncial. The second line looks to be a mixture of Greek capitals and Insular minuscule. In line one the L is curved, the S is half-uncial, the E is in the open uncial form with an extended central stroke. This stroke appears to end in a wedge-shaped finial. The D has an ascender which bends to the left over an open bow and the B has a vertical ascender with a short flat stroke at its top. The two Rs are different in form. The second has a serifed ascender which continues upwards beyond the stroke of the bow. The bow is also more closed that the first R, which does not have the serifs or the extended ascender. The beginning of line two consists of alpha and omega. The A has a flat top and the two angled strokes do not join at the top. The 'cross bar' does not join the rest of the letter, and is in the form of a circumflex. The W also has a flat top. An interpunct follows the W. The second part of the final line displays a more informal script. The H is minuscule as is the first S, there is then a colon, followed by a 'wayward' X, a minuscule P with an open bow and a 'sideways' and backward majuscule S. These last letters appear to be in Insular minuscule.
