Macalister/1949, 120: `probably pocked'.

Palaeography:Macalister/1949, 120: `Wakeman described the inscription as being...in Roman capitals. [This] is certainly wrong: the letters are the normal half-uncials'.

CISP: Insular half-uncials with the curved T, a minuscule H, and two forms of A. The first of these ia almost triangular in shape, and conforms more closely to the 'Insular minuscule' form of A illustrated in Bischoff/1990, 85.

Legibility:poor
Macalister/1949, 120: `The letters were probably pocked, but are in such a desperate condition of weather-wear that it would be impossible to be certain of this; indeed the decipherment is very uncertain...[there is] much doubt as to the first two letters and no complete assurance as to the others'.

Hamlin/2001, 56: `This is one of Macalister's less confident readings .. The surveyors of the archaeology of the county did not confirm Macalister's reading, and it must be regarded as doubtful'.
